La Banda el Recodo sufrió un aparatoso accidente en las afueras de San Antonio, Texas, cuando el autobús dode viajaban se volcó, dejando a la mayoría de los músicos heridos y al líder del grupo, Poncho Lizárraga, con una pierna rota y en estado delicado.
PeopleEnEspanol.com se enteró que el accidente ocurrió cuando el chofer del autobús iba manejando por la carretera 123 y un automovil entró en sentido contrario. Para evitar chocar de frente con el auto, el chofer del autobús lo esquivó y fue cuando se volteó el camión. La mayoría de los músicos sufrieron heridas y tuvieron que ser llevados en helicóptero a diferentes hospitales de la ciudad.
Poncho, por su parte, además de la pierna rota, recibió varios golpes en el cuerpo y se encuentra en estado delicado, aunque estable.El autobus de Banda los Recoditos -que se presentan el domingo en el Festival People en Español en dicha ciudad texana- venía detrás del autobus de Banda El Recodo, pero, afortunadamente, a ellos no les pasó nada. Sin embargo, las autoridades no les permitieron auxiliar a sus compañeros de El Recodo.
